Hung out with my good friend,
Dickson Schneider... got to check out his studio which is always amazing. Dickson is one of my greatest sources of inspiration. He's always painting, making a video, creating a print or working on a project. Other than a series of portraits he's been working on, he just rebuilt a vintage bike and covered it in abstract enamel paintings... amazing as always.
Also got to take a peek at
Katina's new body of work. I'm used to walking into her studio, seeing a large mylar sheet on the floor with several muffin tins strewn about containing around 3 dozen variations of black ink dilutions which she uses to paint overlapping shadows. I was so surprised to see color when I walked in today. Flowers, pattern, rich saturated colors all mingling together to create these complex and fluid scenes...beautiful.

So I'm about a week behind in my posts, but wanted to share some pics with you all from my visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Having grown up in the Bay Area, I've been to this aquarium a dozen or so times, but never realized how amazing it is until I became and adult (if you can call me that). My reason for going there is always the Jellies. They are truly breathtaking!
MJ and I visited the Filoli House for her birthday. I had visited the Muckross House in Killarney Ireland last year, and it was my favorite thing on the trip. The Muckross House was purchased by the owners of Filoli, the Bourn's, for their daughter as a wedding gift. The Grand Ballroom at Filoli is painted with murals of the Muckross Estate. I was curious to see the connections between the two estates, and Filoli lived up to expectation.
This tree was beautiful, massive in size with drooping branches that touched the brick walk beneath it.
There are many gardens at Filoli. This patch of lavender was among my favorite.
