Criminal Inspiration

photos from Justice & Police Museum collection via T Garrett Eaton

I love these photos. Not only the expressions of the accused, but also the shots themselves, the pairing of the close up forlorn expression with an empty chair, the stained cement floor, the rather formal attire that is disheveled and torn...beautiful.  More images here!

Steamboat Interiors

So this might seem like a random topic, but I came across these images of steam boat interiors of the late 1800's while searching for images for yesterday's post. I had to share them because I think they are so surreal. I also thought Miss Essential Monsters might enjoy them. And perhaps you will too...

Cake Box Book

Made this Cake Box Book as seen in Esther K. Smith's How to Make Books.  I love the look of using this vintage looking yellow cake mix...so 1950's! I of course considered making a book of the funfetti style cake for MJ since that's her favorite cake mix, but I didn't like the box.

I used kraft paper, a cake mix yellow paper, and old school ruled newsprint paper (the kind I hated using when I was a kid). I bound the book with red and white baker's twine.

I love how the stitches look on the spine.

Voila! A Cake box book!
