Thumbelina

Just posted on my etsy page...an original miniature painting of Thumbelina

I recently found out about "spore prints." Although I love mushroom imagery, I never thought about taking a print from a live mushroom. I collected these mushrooms from my neighborhood. After plucking off the stem, I placed the mushrooms on a sheet of white paper and enclosed the entire page, mushrooms and all, in a tupperware. 12 hours later you have these amazing shibori like aureoles in browns, ochres and greys.

Spring Window is UP!

Excuse the poor pics form my phone. I will be posting better images this week!

Hundreds of reused plastic water and soda bottles became this spring sphere of flowers!!!!
The Atrium features this sphere, which is 92" wide and two others, one 72" wide and a baby one about 48" wide. All the flowers are strung on thread running floor to ceiling. I used over 2000 yards of thread!

Hair Sculpture by Nagi Noda

I am blown away by these "Hair Hats" by Japanese artist Nagi Noda. I came across these plastic taxidermy forms on eBay the other day and they would make a great base for something like these wigs. Amazing!

Nesting

Aaron and I have been collecting bird nests. I was searching for images of nests on google when I came across this installation by Benjamin Verdonck. The Dutch artist built a giant sized nest on the side of an office building in Rotterdam and lived within it for a 5 day period. Check out the video below!

Goodbye 2009! Hello 2010!

Another year has slipped past and I still haven't kept to a sketchbook! 2009 was a tremendous year of change. I look forward to a New Year full of more adventures, images and birds nests...

Resolutions...
a page a day (preferably in a sketchbook)!

Happy 2010 to All!
Oh, and I love that hedgehog!!! He's just a wish:)
